Doing business in the Netherlands

 

The geographical and strategic location, the relative ease of doing business, and its outstanding and accessible transportation and distribution system make the Netherlands an ideal location and market for Egyptian companies. With distribution points including Rotterdam, the world’s 3rd largest port, and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the 4th largest passenger and 3rd largest cargo airport in Europe, the Netherlands successfully plays an important role as the distribution centre of Europe (“the Gateway to Europe”).   Some of the factors that contribute to this unique position of the Netherlands include:

In April 2006 the Netherlands was ranked fifth in The Global Business Environment Rankings 2006-2010 developed by the Economist Intelligence Unit, because of its location and advanced economy.

• Holland Trade provides comprehensive information on doing business in the Netherlands, the Dutch industry sectors, products and technologies, as well as general fact sheets and analyses of different sectors of the Dutch economy. Matchmaking facilities are provided as well.
  
  
• Guidelines for Doing Business in the Netherlands provides detailed information on a whole range of aspects related to trade and investment in the Netherlands.
   
  
• The Holland International Distribution Council (NDL/HIDC) provides assistance to international and foreign companies seeking to help with logistics and distribution of their products in the Netherlands or via the Netherlands to the rest of Europe.  However, HIDC does not provide matchmaking services with product representatives or agents/dealers/distributors.
  
  
• The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce has 50 offices spread throughout the Netherlands and assists Egyptian and other foreign companies in starting their import or export activities and advises those with years of experience in doing business abroad.  Likewise it helps Egyptian companies locate an importer, agent, distributor, wholesaler or direct customer in the Netherlands.
  
  
• The Egyptian Embassy in The Hague is also a primary contact for Egyptian businesses seeking to do business in the Netherlands.
